Complexity of your case
How long a divorce take in Singapore is also dependent on the complexity of your case. It is also dependent on whether it is an uncontested divorce, where the terms of a divorce are agreed upon by both parties, or contested divorce, where terms may be of contention.
For Uncontested Divorces
If there is no delay with the submission of divorce papers, and that you and your spouse are agreeable and cooperative, an uncontested divorce typically takes between 4 to 6 months to complete. This is inclusive of the mandatory 3 month window upon obtaining the Interim Judgement from the Singapore Family Justice Courts. After the 3 months, provided that all ancillary matters are resolved, the Final Judgement will be handed out by the Courts.
For Contested Divorces
For contested divorces, the duration depends on the nature of your case. If all matters concerning the divorce are not able to be agreed upon, the divorce may take up to 12 months or more.
